Such a great day for photos, so on our regular daily walks that Geoffrey (office colleague) and myself do, I took this photo of the War Memorial in Kings Park that overlooks the cityscape of Perth.
Update (04.04.2008) – I found some information on the memorial:
Cenotaph
An 18 metre granite obelisk commemorates all Western Australians who gave their lives in the service of their country.
The internal walls of the undercroft list the names of more than 7000 members of the services killed in action or who died of wounds or illness in WWI.
Bronze plaques on the outside walls of the undercroft list the names of nearly 4000 Australians who lost their lives in WWII. Names of the fallen from subsequent conflicts are also included here.

Glad you’ve joined the Australian group of bloggers! Everyone tells me that Perth is a wonderful city, and I’m looking forward to your posts. Is this Memorial for all wars or specific to one or two?
Simply beautiful! I love looking at memorials and this one overlooking the city is simply breathtaking!
I have just discovered your site; great to see Perth on CDP. I am looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful city.
Beautiful picture, Welcome to CDP.
@Kate – Not sure which war its specific to I think it might be for the Anzacs, but directly underneath this memorial statue there are all the soldiers names inside around all the walls (entrance is behind)
Next time I go for a walk I’ll make a note to find out more detail – (found some details as updated in the post)
